The BRS Legislature Party has issued formal notices to Assembly Speaker Prasad Kumar regarding two serious complaints against Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. These complaints have caused significant controversy and calls for action.
Remarks Against Women MLAs
The issue began during a budget session in the Telangana Assembly when Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made comments that were seen as disrespectful towards senior women legislators P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy. These remarks led to a strong reaction from BRS members, who stood up, shouted slogans, and demanded an apology from the Chief Minister. The Assembly session was disrupted and had to be adjourned.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticized the remarks, calling them inappropriate and disrespectful. He demanded that CM Reddy apologize to the women of Telangana immediately.
Misleading Information on Electricity Meters
The BRS also accused CM Revanth Reddy of giving false information to the House about electricity meters. While the details were not fully covered, the BRS insisted that action should be taken against the Chief Minister for this.
Statewide Protests and Apology Demands
In response to these incidents, the BRS announced plans for statewide protests, including burning effigies of CM Revanth Reddy. The party’s leaders said that the comments not only insulted the women legislators but also disrespected all women in Telangana. They demanded that CM Reddy take back his statements and apologize publicly.
Call to Disqualify Defectors
The BRS leaders also asked Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy to disqualify MLCs who switched parties, arguing that this goes against democratic principles and accountability. This request highlights the importance of party loyalty and the integrity of elected officials.
As the situation unfolds, the BRS is determined to seek justice and ensure that respect is maintained in the Assembly. They continue to demand accountability from the Chief Minister and are waiting to see how he will respond to these serious allegations.
