Chief Minister of Telangana Mr. Revanth Reddy shared his updates on the upcoming local body elections. As these were due for a while now, similarly to how panchayat and other local body polls had been delayed but were finally taken care of by the CM, the CM’s push to get things going is in works.

Concentrate on Reservation to Backward Communities

But CM Revanth has emphasised one important thing: completion of reservations to backward communities in these elections. He has asked the BC Commission to expedite its report on the nature of reservations. That is the necessary step to make sure elections are held on equal terms and representation is rightly given to all communities.

Voter List Preparation

Another preparatory work ahead of the election process is readying the voter list. According to CM Revanth, this is the key to begin the election process. Election Commission of India is sending its revised voter list to different states and Telangana is expecting its copy anytime now. Once this list is received, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to start the poll preparation work with no loss of time.

Delaying Delays

The Chief Minister has admitted that the local body elections are very much delayed. He stressed the need to overcome these delays and proceed with the election process with as much speed as possible. “The moment the voter list is ready and reservations are finalized, the state will move forward with the elections.”

Working Together for Smooth Elections

CM Revanth asked the concerned departments and officials to work together as a team for smoothly conducting the elections. Also, he advised them to consult senior officials who have experience in conducting such polls and even legal advisors on issues relating to disputes arising out of the elections or any legal wrangles.

Conclusion

While reservations are finalized and the voter list is ready, Telangana is getting serious about local body elections. The motive of all these simultaneous activities is to ensure the elections are conducted in a free-and-fair manner without any delay. Recent statements by CM Revanth reflect their resolve for a transparent and efficient election process in which none of the communities feel under-represented.
