Pune has seen a rise in Zika virus cases, with seven new cases reported recently, increasing the total number to 73. This comes amid ongoing efforts by health authorities to control the outbreak, which has raised particular concern due to its impact on pregnant women and vulnerable populations.

Among the seven new cases, six involve pregnant women, highlighting the serious risks associated with the virus during pregnancy. The affected individuals are from areas including Dahanukar Colony, Erandwane, and Kharadi, which have been identified as hotspots for the virus. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is closely monitoring these areas and has intensified efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, which are the primary vector for the Zika virus.
