The Telangana government has taken off on a motivated plan to regenerate and beautify the Musi River, seeking Rs. 4,000 crores in funding from the central government. Formation of MRDCL

To oversee the Regeneration efforts, the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL) has been established. These STPs, costing Rs. 3,866 crores, aim to ensure 100% treatment of the city’s sewage, significantly improving the river’s water quality.

Infrastructure Development

The project also includes the construction of 14 new heritage-themed bridges and link roads, aimed at improving urban infrastructure and addressing traffic issues. These projects, with an estimated cost of Rs. 386.8 crore will not only enhance connectivity but also add to the city’s aesthetic appeal. The inclusion of greenery, gazebos, designer benches, walking tracks, and open gyms along the riverbanks will create attractive public spaces for residents and visitors alike.

Water Management

To ensure a consistent flow of clean water, the project includes linking the Musi River with the Godavari River. This linkage, costing Rs. 1,250 crores is crucial for maintaining the river’s water levels and preventing pollution.
