On August 10, 2024, in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, two Indian Army soldiers were killed during a gunfight with terrorists. The soldiers were part of a joint operation involving the Indian Army, J&K Police, and CRPF, launched after receiving information about terrorists hiding in the area.
When the security forces challenged the terrorists, they were met with heavy gunfire. Unfortunately, two soldiers lost their lives, and three others, including two civilians, were injured. The operation took place in a challenging terrain with dense forests and rocky areas, making the mission difficult.
The security forces are continuing their efforts to track down the terrorists involved. This tragic incident reminds us of the constant risks faced by the armed forces in maintaining peace in the region. The operation is still ongoing as the security forces work to ensure justice is served.
